Book: The time traveler's wife
Author: Audrey Niffeneger
Genre: Romance, Fantasy, Science fiction (just because of the time travel no more :D)
Release date: January, 2003
Goodreads rating: 3.92/5
About the book: The time traveler's wife is a book about Henry who has some sort of genetic disorder, giving him the ability to time travel. Henry can't control this ability that started when he was just a little boy, and has to shape his life around it.
During these trips in time he meets Clare who falls in love with him ever since that first time in the meadow when she was six and Henry thirty-six.
The main plot revolves around the struggles Henry and Clare face together to make it work. For some reason when Henry time travels his clothes don't make it, so Clare always left him some of her father's old clothes and shoes for him to wear.
Despite all the trouble the relationship survives and they get married and are terrified to learn that they can't have babies because they can time travel too and end up dying.
What I think: I really like this book. The main idea is very intriguing and interesting. The time jumps are a bit confusing, but once you focus within a couple of times you get the hang of it :D
I couldn't really get why he had to be naked when he time traveled. It's not like everything was scientific and this would make the story less real. It was just uncalled for, just saying.
Some people may think it's a waste of a good idea, but I think it's just another way of portraying the idea of time travel. If you don't want the romantic intake, I'm sure there are other action-packed books about the same thing.
The last few chapters are heart pounding and will leave you thinking for a while. It's not the best book, but a good one all in all.
My rating: 8/10
Bonus: The book was turned into a movie starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams in 2009.
