Song of the day (19)

Kokoro no kakera (literally fragments of my heart)

Artist: Composed by Joe Hisaishi and sung by his daughter Mai Fujisawa
Album: Ni no kuni: wrath of the white witch original soundtrack
Release date: December, 2010
About the song: Kokoro no kakera is the main theme song of the DS & PS3 game Ni no kuni. It's such a strong song that grabs your attention the first time you hear it :)
I never thought the game could get any better after knowing that, studio Ghibli created the animation sequence and watching some promotional videos on You Tube. The song adds so much more to the magic of the game and suits it perfectly!

The song's lyrics revolves around having a broken heart and finding a way to restore hope and gather those broken fragments and finally reaching that other side to a new future. The music is beautiful and serenading and Mai's voice adds feeling to it. The English version of the song is very good too, but the Japanese one is deeper.

The song was critically acclaimed world wide along with the game and the soundtrack was nominated for best soundtrack in a couple of occasions. Squareenixmusic.com gave the soundtrack a perfect score and consider it Hisaishi's best score since Spirited Away.
