Slam Dunk

So, here comes my first anime review! :D

Slam Dunk ,as I mentioned before, was the first anime I watch in Japanese. Before that, I had watched it twice as a child, dubbed in Arabic. It is one of my all time favorite anime. I owe it the few more centimeters I got from playing basketball; Otherwise, I would have been barely visible. :D
So what is the story about?

The main character Hanamichi Sakuragi is a high school delinquent. After being rejected by 50 girls he falls in love with Haruko, who for a change didn't push him away. Haruko is obsessed with the school basketball team whose captain is her brother. She sees in Hanamichi ,who is quite tall and strong, a great asset for the team. She talks him into joining the team and he does it for her. There he meats his rival Rukawa Kaede, who is liked by all the girls including Haruko, and is regarded as the star rookie of the team. That's how Hanamichi starts his journey with basketball. The Story goes on in a comedy atmosphere mixed with  suspense and drama. All along the anime and the manga we witness the character development of Hanamichi Sakuragi.

As for the positives and negatives of Slam Dunk, let's start with the postitives:
- The anime is so freakin' hilarious!
- Hanamichi's friends are awesome! All the characters have their unique likable sides.
- The games are very interesting.
- They explain the rules of basketball, so it's very informative.
- The character development of Hanamichi Sakuragi goes perfectly.
- The art is fine...very good, actually.
- The drama is good, it's not all about laughing.
- The first opening and 2 Ending songs are cool. I don't remember the other opening and 2 endings.
- The soundtracks are fine, not that much memorable but fine.
- The voice acting is very good. Haruko could be a little bit noisy, though. Hanamichi is noisy but that's the point of him! XD

As for the negatives:
-It may be regarded as a slow anime. They once took a whole episode for the last minute in a game.
-The anime ended before the manga. Your'e kind of left on a cliffhanger. However, the manga is already over, so you could read the rest from the manga. It's much fun, and loads faster!

Conclusion: The anime is definitely worth watching. It's one of the best sports anime of all time. The manga, also, is worth reading to the end. Don't stop at where the anime ends!

Music Introduction

Every architecture student in the world, definitely has the same exact problem "Lack of sleep". We spend the long night working, when everyone else is comfortable in their warm beds (This is not envy or hatred or anything). So, our only companion for the long nights is our music playlist. The list has changed, frequently, for five years. It included all types of music. In this blog, we'll talk about them. We'll talk about bands we've liked, music we've enjoyed and songs we've been addicted to.

Food Introduction

“People who love to eat are always the best people.”
                                                               Julia Child
So, basically we are the best people! :D
One of our future dreams, which arose during the past five years, is having a restaurant or cafe. So, let this page be the foundation stone of our place!
In this page, we'll be talking about our experience with food, foods we've liked, foods we didn't like. We'll be talking about our cooking experience, recipes we've tried and how they have been.

Series introduction

Among the things that entertain me the most are series, I just love them. I've watched different types of series from comedy to drama to sci-fi. It started with TV watching things on Dubai one, then mbc and now on the internet :D. The most exciting thing about watching something is the post-episode discussion. I do that with my cousins and now with Yosra in the common things we watch. I guess our first one to watch together was Heroes, we were so into it until we discovered that it stopped after season 4 due to low ratings -_- so I stopped after season 2. After that whenever my cousin tells me about a good show I'd tell Yosra and we'd watch it together so here we'd talk about them and maybe some others that we watch separately.

Books Introduction 2

Ever since I was little I read magazines and comics such as "Mickey","Bolbol","Alla El-Deen" and many others. My first real book was during my 12th year, we just heard about this movie called "Harry Potter" that everyone was crazy about, we saw the second movie and I was in love with the story and one day my dad bought me the second book in the series "Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets". I never thought that would be my window to reading before Harry Potter I thought reading was boring and tiring but now 9 years later I've read around 70 books :D Reading is just a unique experience with each book that's why I wanted to share one of my favorite books with Yosra "The kite runner" which we'll definetley review later ;) If you enjoy books as much as we do tune in.

Books Introduction

One of the things we ,both, realized we share a passion for is reading; a passion that lead to the idea of our graduation project. The first book I borrowed from Summar was in the second semester of our first year in college. It was Khaled Hosseini's "The Kite Runner", which is one of my favorite books. The first book I lent to Summar was "Jessica on her own". Those two books started our journey with reading and books.

J-drama Introduction

So when did we start watching Japanese drama? .. It was the first semester in my second year in college. After, watching a number of anime among which were some shojo anime, I thought I should try watching Japanese drama. Since, many of them are manga adaptations , as well, so they shouldn't be any different. It felt different of course. Hearing the language directly from Japanese people ,who look Japanese, is different. However, I made a very good choice for my first JDrama, which was Hana yori dango. I loved it! I suggested that Summar should watch it and surprisingly she welcomed the idea! I mean watching anime is something , but Japanese drama ..that's going too deep. Anyway She liked it too and that's how we started our journey with Japanese drama. =D

Anime introduction

Our history with anime goes back to our childhood, thanks to Spacetoon (TV channel for animations dubbed in Arabic). Though we didn't know each other back then, we had shared loads of childhood memories. However, as we grow up we become more interested in watching movies and tv series, stuff with real people. That's what happened to me, but it all started again in the summer of 2010.
It was our first Summer vacation during college. I used to take that boring AutoCAD course. It was a two-week course. It started at 1 pm and lasted for 3 hours, the hottest 3 hours, and I had to go all week days. It was torture! I hated it! On my way back home, on my last day, I was the happiest girl on Earth. I mean it! In that occasion, I felt like doing something different. I don't know why, but I felt like watching Slam Dunk. Slam dunk is an anime about basketball I used to watch on Spacetoon and I loved it; I'll review it later. So, I searched for the first episode, dubbed in Arabic like how I used to watch it. I started watching it and I was really enjoying myself. On the side of the page there was among the related videos the same episode in Japanese with english subtitles. I can't remember why I opened that video and wathched the Japanese version, but I am glad I did. I started watching it in Japanese and i was like "This isn't bad!". The voices were kind of similar. I wasn't irritated by the new language. Actually, I liked it. I decided to complete Slam Dunk in its original language, thinking that there would be more episodes. There wasn't, but that's how it all started. :)

                                                   Yosra =)

Movies introduction

The first topic that lead to our friendship was about Ashton Kutcher :D Common friends of ours were discussing who he was and were trying to make a point that he's famous XD We then discovered that we're both big movies fans and here we are five years later where sometimes people mix our names because we're almost always together :D. We've watched so many movies that we lose count, so we'll try to review some of them here just for the fun of it.

It starts...

Let the world witness this day, mark it in your calendar, memorize it and wait for it from year to year; for it is the day our baby was born, our long awaited blog :D. For about a year we've been talking about having this blog and finally it saw the light after a long long (did I mention long?) time. As usual we never thought it would take so much time for a bunch of little details and decisions, and then again it's us!, so obviously we would  :D. If anyone out there in the virtual world is reading this then you're either a sympathetic friend (or one looking for a joke to torture us with. I see you there!) OR (I'm playing this in Barney's voice) you're just here because you're a true fan of some things we absolutely love ♥. So welcome us on this new stage where we get to talk about whatever we want and share it with the world :D.
One of the two. Summar :D
