        "I'm a housewife!!" That's how the powerful Izumi Curtis introduces herself. Izumi Curtis was Edward and Alphonse's alchemy mentor, before they try to transmute their mother. Izumi, herself, made the same sin and tried to transmute her dead child. That caused her to lose some inner organs, leaving her incapable of giving birth again. She works as butcher with her husband Sig.They are quite the interesting couple. XD

       
 Izumi is one of the strongest characters in FMA. Besides mastering alchemy, her combat abilities and physical strength are exceptional. One of the few, if not the only one, who was capable of leaving an impression on Olivier Armstrong. However, the loss of her internal organs, caused her bleeding after exerting some effort (It's featured in a comical way though). That was before Hohenheim who rearranges her internal organs to ease the blood flow.

Izumi is naturally aggressive and scary, but she's a caring person. She cares for Edward and Alphonse as if they were her kids. She's almost the only person that they, literally, fear. She, also, uses alchemy to help people, like when she used it to build a dam to save a town from being flooded.

She doesn't like the government military and she was angry with Ed and Al, because they were working for them. She also refused an offer by the Fuhrer for her to join them (apart from the fact that he just wanted her as a sacrifice). She joined the North forces of Briggs after informing them of the promised day, as she was told by Hohenheim; the news that finally reached Roy Mustang and marked the beginning of the uprising in Central.
