Song of the day

Since we received GREAT news today, I think we should play happy songs for this whole week :D One of our best friends is getting married next Wednesday!! We have to celebrate! ^_^
Of course a great way to start this joyful week is...

Happy

By: Pharrell Williams
Album: Girl (2014)
Genre: Neo soul, Funk

Why it's special: Well there are many qualities to this song starting with it being the soundtrack for despicable me 2, turning into a huge deal. Performed at the Oscars with people dancing around and then the new year craze in late December when they started counting down hours by posting a video on YouTube every hour.
No one knows what happened suddenly everyone was dancing around on its tunes, people started making videos dancing, and of course the trend reached Egypt and we made it our own when many graduating classes of different colleges started making a video with all their friends and colleagues and putting so much memories on it as a tribute and farewell to their long educational journeys.
I won't lie it's very catchy and makes you want to dance, but after the 200th time it becomes a bit tiring :D
Awards: It was nominated for best original song Oscar in 2013, but was just unlucky to be in the same year of Frozen's "Let it go". It topped so many charts. The music video was nominated for best male video and video of the year at 2014 MTV video music awards. In my opinion their greatest award is having 10 million copies all over the world and becoming a phenomena!
Bonus: Being the country that it is Egypt tried to imitate the feel of "Happy" through this annoying song "بشرى خير" they made for 2014's presidential elections. I hate the song and can't stand it though it's better than another nightmare we had to listen to everyday on TV and Radio until this one came out.

Prepare your dancing moves and listen to happy :D
