Character: Kouki Nitani

         Kouki-kun! <3 He's the cutest thing ever. Generally speaking, I like naughty little boys, regardless how tiresome they are, and Kouki is a perfect example! He's so adorable!

         Kouki meets Rin in the day care and they become friends. He lives with his divorced mother, who becomes friends with Daikichi, Rin's guardian as well. They go to elementary school together. Kouki proves to be quite the troublesome child. He doesn't listen to his teachers. He scratches the walls along the way to school with a tree branch and he keeps using the emergency whistle for no reason. However, he listens to Rin and he doesn't mind her scolding him. Kouki kicks off, early, on school days to Rin's house, shouting at the door "Ri-in Chan!" .He liked staying at Rin's place and having breakfast with them.  Kouki wanted to be a ninja, so he would always jump over the Loquat tree at Rin's place.

         Of all the relationships in the anime, I liked Kouki's and Daikichi's the most. Kouki had no father, so Daikichi was the closest to a father for him. Daikichi, always, said that Kouki reminded him of his younger self. He used to skip steps and drink milk from the bottle and stuff like that. Though he thought Kouki was a brat, but he thought it's pretty normal for his age. Kouki looked up to Daikichi. He had his unique way of calling him "Daikichii! Daikichii!".  Daikichi would always tell him to take care of Rin. He would als have Diakichi teach him stuff, like rope jumping. There was mutual trust between them. He, also, wanted Daikichi to marry his mother. :D

         Kouki might be troublesome, but he's a good child. He cares for his mom, though he calls her and old hag. He, also, cares for Rin, we can see that on many occasions. And he looks up to Daikichi who trusts him with Rin.

Note! This about the anime, since I'm pretending I never read the manga.
