Song of the day (11)

Save the last dance for me

Artist: The drifters (Ben E. King also recorded the song)
Album: Save the last dance for me
Genre: R&B, pop
Release date: August, 1960
About the song: Doc Pomus wrote this song with Mort Shoman. It is said that Pomus, who was suffering from Polio, wrote the song on his wedding night. He was telling his wife to have fun and dance with the guests, but just keep one last dance for him. It might be a sad story, but nevertheless the song is loved. It has topped the charts several times throughout the years with every new version/cover.
Why I chose it: The version I love is Micheal Buble's and the music video is fun to watch :D

It was remixed and released as a single in the album "It's time". The song was also playing during the closing credits of the movie "The wedding date". I love hearing it from time to time to change the mood a bit and definitely to enjoy Buble's soothing voice ^_^
